Have just had a lovely family injection over the last few days.
My cousin had her second wedding in her home town of Zurich. She and her hubby had their first wedding in Jayapura West Papua – a bit to far the weekend really! That being said the brides brother did come all the way from OZ for 72 hours. ekk! So maybe I am not displaying the right amount of family feeling. Anyway, it was lovely to be there for the second one.
Zurich is a funny city. Just about everyone I met said they were not a “typical swiss”. It was odd because each person also filled with enormous pride for their country but equally don’t wish to embrace the national sterotype. Which is far as I can see is being on time and making shed loads of money as a banker?! Although it is quite possible a bunch of other more subtle stereotypes that my Australian eye for detail has missed!
The happy couple and her Mum showed me around their town – we had Bratwurst by the lake, wonderfully complicated coffee (it came with a strainer) and ate piles of bread, some filled with dates, others nuts… yep those jeans are under a bit of strain at the moment.
It was a lovely and gorgeous weekend…. back to the thesis at hand.
